Kristie's Photos in Okinawa
Here are a few pictures that Kristie took yesterday with her new camera. I think this guy could set a new fashion trend in America.

Sotomayor!
this the best choice for a Supreme Court Justice? Bad pick, Obama.
A Philly Macchiato
shop where I ordered a macchiato. It reminded me of my many trips to
Italy. Not the taste or the atmosphere, just the ordering of many
macchiato.

From Okinawa to Denny's
Seattle was unexpectedly extended when my car broke down on the
highway. It's been a fun trip with Kristie's folks, and they haven't
kicked me out yet!
I'm pleasantly surprised with how good Denny's coffee is. Have I been
away from the U.S. too long?

My Coffee with Steve Wozniak
On my way back to Portland from Salt Lake City, I ran into Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer. For those hardcore Apple fans out there, this is a big deal.

Steve had on this strange watch with tiny hourglasses. I should have asked him about it.

I wanted to shake his hand, but I was afraid that it would smell like baked bread.

Meaning of the Cross
From The Valley of Vision (pp. 76-77),
Christ was all anguish
that I might be all joy,
cast off
that I might be brought in,
trodden down as an enemy
that I might be welcomed as a friend,
surrendered to hell's worst
that I might attain heaven's best,
stripped
that I might be clothed,
wounded
that I might be healed,
athirst
that I might drink,
tormented
that I might be comforted,
made a shame
that I might inherit glory,
entered darkness
that I might have eternal light.
My Saviour wept
that all tears might be wiped from my eyes,
groaned
that I might have endless song,
endured all pain
that I might have unfading health,
bore a thorny crown
that I might have a glory-diadem,
bowed his head
that I might uplift mine,
experienced reproach
that I might receive welcome,
closed his eyes in death
that I might gaze on unclouded brightness,
expired
that I might for ever live.
O Father, who spared not thine only Son that thou mightest spare
me,
All this transfer thy love designed and accomplished;
Help me to adore thee by lips and life.
O that my every breath might be ecstatic praise, my every step
buoyant with delight. . .

Jesus Wants the Rose
Here's an excerpt from Matt Chandler's excellent sermon in the last Desiring God conference. The full sermon of "A Shepherd and His Unregenerate Sheep" can be downloaded here.
